Today I experienced a familiar dilemma about ‘thank you’ gifts. Should I buy a Starbucks gift card or make something? It seems that in today’s fast-paced, caffeine-driven lifestyle (particularly if you’re a Vancouverite like myself), coffee cards are the way to go. No one would look down upon your gift and you can be sure {Tags: fruit, gift, granola, nut, thank you} {More...}

Hello friends =) I wish I had taken more photos of the healthy foods I’ve been eating so as to make my next bit of news seem less horrible. Alas, my poor habits during the school season have returned. Gone all the days of ‘New Year’s resolutions’ where I promise to eat healthy daily…and man…it’s {Tags: fresh, from scratch, local, organic, pizza, school} {More...}

I’m having one of those days where I think I should have stayed in bed. At home it was raining, so I wore my ‘UGG-look a likes.” BIG MISTAKE. 5 minutes on campus and my boots have gone from light to DARK brown. My icy toes are swimming in water. Needless to say my socks {Tags: biscotti, chocolate, coffee, fair trade, hazelnut, organic, rain} {More...}

Hello friends, My mom recently asked, “Does anyone even read what you write?” In response, I paused. Thought for a moment. Then replied, “It doesn’t matter.” I hope you’re not offended. But really, it doesn’t matter because I know life gets busy and not keeping up doesn’t mean you don’t care. Honestly, so many of {Tags: January, routine} {More...}

I can’t remember the last time where Christmas felt so relaxing and calm. My family decided to fly away and escape the commotion that so often fills our lives. We enjoy the commotion most of the time, but sometimes the shopping, the rushing, the driving around getting angry over parking spots…it takes the joy out {Tags: apple, Christmas, crumble, lychee, sorbet} {More...}

ARE OVER!!! WAHAHAHAHA! Honestly, there’s a nerd side of me that loves studying nutrition and figuring out how to best treat make-belief case study patients…but even the nerd in me needs a break. Mind you, when I’m absolutely down about cramming more into my exploding brain, I take a ‘break’ and go get my favorite {More...}

In my home, when winter time rolls around, everyone’s lazy about cooking. There’s something about the cold weather that makes us all just want to hibernate and get take out or eat out just for sake of filling our stomachs. So I thought…the nutritionist (and economist!) in me knows better than to spend all my {Tags: broccoli, butternut, casserole, cheddar, chicken, fish, local, ribs, soup, squash, winter} {More...}

In short, I have an older brother. He’s taller, bigger, smarter (in math!), and funnier than me on all accounts. Ask anyone who knows the both of us and you’ll soon be told I’m the more ‘serious’ one while my brother’s “happy-go-lucky.” Amongst other things, he’s someone I’ve looked up to growing up…and not just {More...}

When you work in the food industry, the most common phrase you’ll ever say or hear is “Hey, how are you?” or “Hi, how’s it going?” It’s almost a comment more than a question. But of course, the polite (albeit robotic) response would be “Great! How are you?” Granted, when someone asks “Hey, how are {Tags: friendship, health, work} {More...}

Despite my best efforts, I can’t seem to buddy up with technology the way I wish to. Once I figure out Picasa and it’s promised wonders…I’ll have a nicer lookin’ site for y’all. Stay patient…I’m trying my best not to throw things at my laptop. On a happier note! Tonight’s dinner featured an al dente {Tags: dinner, learning, pork, salt, spaghetti, winter} {More...}
